Software Engineer - $79.33 - $93.75 per hour

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer owning backend systems across trust, identity & access management, auditing, and telemetry. You’ll combine hands-on development with end-to-end feature ownership—covering design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring—while collaborating closely with Product, Design, and partner engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• Take technical ownership of a defined backend subdomain (e.g., OAuth/SSO flows, audit logging infrastructure, telemetry ingestion pipelines, or fine-grained permissions)
• Deliver features end to end by:
  • writing design documentation and gaining alignment
  • implementing solutions
  • testing, deploying, and monitoring in production
• Design for enterprise reliability, including:
  • observability
  • rollback paths
  • incremental delivery
• Participate in on-call rotations and postmortems
• Work with Product and Design to define scope, priorities, tradeoffs, and incremental delivery
• Communicate clearly in an async-first environment; contribute via code reviews and technical standards

Telemetry Responsibilities

• Build and maintain pipelines, APIs, and experiences that turn raw telemetry into usable insights
• Enable visibility into usage, performance, and schema behavior so teams can evolve and scale safely

Trust / Identity & Access Responsibilities

• Build and maintain identity, access management, and auditing capabilities
• Work on OAuth, SSO, fine-grained role-based access, tokens, permissions, and audit logging
• Ensure access is correctly controlled and important user/system activity is recorded

Qualifications

• 2+ years building backend services in production
• Strong understanding of distributed systems (consistency, failure modes, resiliency patterns)
• Experience designing APIs and data models for other teams or external customers
• Proficiency in at least one backend language: TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Rust, Java, or similar
• Relational databases plus at least one key-value/document/time-series data store
• Hands-on production ownership (including on-call, incident response, and postmortems)
• Familiarity with observability (metrics, tracing, logging, SLOs)
• Strong written/verbal communication for technical design docs and async collaboration

Nice to Have

• GraphQL, GraphQL platform technologies, or API gateways
• OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, or enterprise SSO workflows
• Identity/access management familiarity: RBAC/ABAC, audit logging
• Experience with AI agents, tool/function calling, or agentic middleware
• Cloud-native architecture experience: Kubernetes, containers, service meshes
• Background in security engineering/compliance tooling/enterprise identity systems
