Software Development Engineer, iOS

Role overview

As a Software Development Engineer, iOS, you’ll help shape Zillow’s iOS design system and build reusable iOS components that product teams rely on. You’ll collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering to improve quality, consistency, and delivery speed across Zillow’s mobile experiences.

What you’ll do

• Build and improve reusable iOS components, patterns, and tooling for the iOS design system.
• Implement and help design architecture for design system features, writing high-quality Swift with strong testing practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully, validating generated output when needed.
• Help define and uphold iOS standards, including accessibility best practices.
• Support testing strategies, code quality improvements, and regular releases for partner teams.
• Diagnose and resolve integration issues for teams adopting Constellation and other shared system capabilities.
• Create documentation and educational content to help teams adopt the design system.
• Collaborate with partners to stay aligned on roadmap priorities and improve the developer/designer experience.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI, with strong iOS platform conventions and Human Interface Guidelines knowledge.
• Strong understanding of application performance, including concurrency, memory efficiency, and smooth scrolling.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality, maintainable code on deadlines.
• Experience with build tools, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools with good judgment about reviewing/testing/revising.
• Experience building accessible iOS experiences.

Nice to have

• Experience adopting or integrating design system technologies (e.g., Constellation).
• Experience producing documentation/enablement materials for partner teams.
