Software Development Engineer in Test (tvScientific)

Role Overview

Join TvScientific (Pinterest) as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for the Web Platform. You will help ensure reliability, security, and performance for the platform’s web UI, APIs, and backend services through strong web/API testing and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and maintain manual and automated tests for web functionality, including UI, APIs, and backend services.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure the web platform and APIs are reliable, secure, and performant.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast, trustworthy feedback.
• Investigate and analyze test failures to identify root causes.
• Advocate for quality best practices with high-trust, cross-functional execution.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in web and API testing.
• Solid understanding of HTTP and REST/API design principles.
• Experience with web automation frameworks, specifically Playwright and/or Cypress.
• Experience building API tests using tools such as Postman, REST-assured, Supertest, or similar.
• Hands-on manual testing of complex consumer-facing web applications.
• Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (JavaScript or TypeScript).
• Strong debugging, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with performance, load, or reliability testing for APIs and web applications.
• Exposure to feature flags, experimentation platforms, or observability tools.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate AI-assisted work (testing, source-checking, data validation, peer review).
• Degree in CS/engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience testing large-scale, high-traffic web platforms.
