About the role

Role Overview

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Spectrio, you’ll build scalable, self-healing automated test ecosystems. You’re expected to treat test code with the same rigor as production code, partnering closely with Android and Front-End engineering teams to enable 100% confidence shipping.

Responsibilities

Unified Automation
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks for Web and Mobile.
- Support Web testing with tools like Playwright or Cypress.
- Support Mobile testing for Android.
Test Strategy & “Definition of Done”
- Partner with Front-End and Android engineers to define Definition of Done.
- Ensure testability is considered starting from the design phase.
API & Integration Testing
- Build automated tests for RESTful APIs.
- Include performance and load simulation testing.
CI/CD & Test Infrastructure
- Integrate smoke, functional, and regression suites into deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions / Jenkins.
- Manage and evolve test infrastructure to keep releases fast and reliable.
Bug Lifecycle & Cross-Platform Troubleshooting
- Identify, document, and troubleshoot complex issues spanning mobile and web.
Performance & UX Quality
- Monitor and analyze app performance and responsiveness via logging tools.
- Establish quantitative performance benchmarks (e.g., load time, resource utilization).
Quality Advocacy & Team Mentorship
- Mentor developers on effective unit testing.
- Provide technical mentorship through code reviews and engineering standards for QA automation.
AI-Augmented Quality Gates
- Lead the strategy and implementation of Generative AI to generate E2E and regression test cases from Jira user stories (e.g., Atlassian Rovo Dev or equivalents).

Requirements & Skills

Strong automation/testing expertise with one or more:
- Playwright / Cypress / Selenium (Web)
- Appium / Espresso (Android)
Strong coding skills in:
- JavaScript/TypeScript (aligned with Front End) and/or
- Java/Kotlin (aligned with Android)
Experience with:
- Git
- CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
- API testing: Postman / Insomnia
- Cross-device/browser testing (e.g., BrowserStack)
- Test/project management: Jira, Confluence, TestRail

Nice-to-Haves

Experience implementing AI-assisted test automation workflows connected to Jira.
