Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role overview

Sharetec is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and own test automation infrastructure that enables the engineering team to ship with confidence. This is a builder role focused on designing automation frameworks from scratch and serving as the team’s subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

• Test Automation Architecture & Ownership
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks from scratch (not inherited/extended suites)
  • Set architecture, conventions, shared patterns, and folder structure for the automation codebase
  • Maintain reliable, maintainable test suites as the platform evolves
  • Act as a primary SME for test automation tools, techniques, and best practices
• CI/CD Integration & Quality Infrastructure
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Configure pipeline triggers, support parallel test execution, and address flaky tests
  • Own reporting and alerting within pipelines
  • Identify testing gaps and propose/implement improvements
  • Partner with DevOps/engineering to ensure test environments are reliable and representative
• Cross-Functional Partnership & Quality Advocacy
  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to automate early in the SDLC (shift-left)
  • Influence QA practices via documentation, mentorship, and standards (not only personal execution)
  • Review pull requests for testability and quality

Requirements

• Experience testing production-grade legacy applications
• Strong capability to build automation frameworks from first principles
• Experience with long-lived .NET systems (Sharetec’s core platform)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience operating/owning automated test infrastructure within CI/CD
• Experience mentoring/standard-setting across an engineering organization
