About the role
Role Overview
Applied Systems is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) (SDET/Playwright) to join the Indio Engineering team. You’ll build and run tests, develop automation from manual test cases, and provide technical insights to help teams resolve issues quickly and maintain software quality.
Responsibilities
- Create test plans and perform testing to assess the impact of changes
- Convert manual test cases into automated tests using modern frameworks
- Ensure test design aligns with architecture and quality principles
- Resolve technical issues, mitigate risks, and prevent high-severity defects
- Maintain technical documentation for test architecture, design steps, integration processes, and procedures
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams to prioritize testing work and support ongoing delivery
- Collaborate as products and underlying architecture evolve to keep quality high
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in automated testing using object-oriented programming
- Strong working knowledge of Playwright
- Experience coaching/mentoring automated testers on Playwright
- Practical experience with automated testing across UI and/or API layers
- Practical experience with query languages such as SQL and/or GraphQL (GQL)
- Experience running CLI commands in local or remote environments
- Ability to develop test strategies and implement quality gating within CI/CT/CD pipelines
- Ability to review and analyze logs to validate functionality and identify defects
- Ability to work independently by analyzing change logs, reports, and technical documentation
Nice to Have / Additional Skills
- Knowledge of Agile development practices
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Cloud and related tech: AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker
Location / Remote Policy
- Remote or from an Applied Systems office (United States)
Compensation
- Targeted starting base salary: $60,000 – $120,000 USD (annual)
