About the role
Role overview
Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) joining Paperless Post’s Editor team. You’ll build and maintain automated test frameworks for rich, interactive, visually-driven invitation/card creation tools, validating both functionality and creative output.
Responsibilities
- Test automation for creative tools: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts/frameworks for canvas-based interactions, drag-and-drop, visual rendering validation, and non-standard browser APIs.
- Visual & interaction testing: Create testing strategies covering functional correctness, pixel-perfect rendering, responsive behaviors, and complex user interactions.
- SDLC integration: Collaborate with developers to improve testability for innovative UI components, and contribute to unit/integration test coverage and code reviews.
- CI/CD integration: Integrate and manage automated tests in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines for fast, reliable delivery.
- Quality assurance: Identify, document, and track bugs; run comprehensive testing across multiple test types.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering, QA, and product teams to align test strategy with project goals.
- Analysis & continuous improvement: Analyze test results, provide quality feedback, and continuously evaluate new testing tools/methodologies.
Requirements
- 6+ years experience as an SDET, Software Engineer, or similar role.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React strongly preferred).
- Experience building automated test frameworks for web apps, especially interactive/visual-heavy applications.
- Strong understanding of browser APIs, DOM manipulation, and cross-browser challenges.
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks: Playwright, Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library (examples provided).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build tools.
- Git (preferred) and strong collaboration/communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Nice to have
- Experience testing creative tools, design software, or canvas-based applications.
- Visual regression testing / screenshot comparison tools.
- Performance testing for frontend applications.
