About the role
Role Overview
Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for the software quality assurance team. This is a remote role based anywhere in the US, focused on ensuring applications perform reliably under expected and peak user loads.
Responsibilities
- Automation Tests: Design, build, and maintain robust automated tests for backend services, APIs, and AI-enabled systems.
- Load Testing: Develop and execute load test plans, scenarios, and scripts to simulate real-world user traffic.
- Performance Monitoring: Use JMeter, BlazeMeter, or similar tools to monitor performance, response times, and resource utilization.
- Issue Detection & Reporting: Identify performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and system failures; document findings and provide actionable recommendations.
- Cross-team Collaboration: Partner with development, DevOps, and operations to troubleshoot and resolve performance problems.
- Test Environments: Set up, configure, and maintain environments that replicate production-like conditions.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Produce detailed performance reports/dashboards for stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current on performance testing best practices and emerging tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 2–3 years experience in performance testing / load testing / QA.
- Proficiency with load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, BlazeMeter).
- Scripting/programming skills for automation: C#, TypeScript, Java, or Python.
- Familiarity with automation/testing frameworks such as Playwright and Postman.
- Understanding of SDLC and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of databases, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Comfortable with AI agent and cross-device/user scenario testing.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with e-commerce, SaaS, or high-traffic web applications.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Interest in AI-assisted testing techniques to improve coverage and efficiency.
