Software Development Engineer in Test

Role overview

Bright Vision Technologies is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and improve test automation and embed quality engineering throughout the SDLC. This is a 100% remote (U.S.), full-time direct W2 role.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and continuously improve test automation frameworks
• Write production-quality test code
• Partner with development teams to incorporate quality engineering across the SDLC
• Translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions
• Raise the team’s bar through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers
• Cover broad testing needs, including:
  • Unit, integration, end-to-end testing
  • Performance and security testing for modern distributed systems

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years experience as an SDET or in test-focused software engineering roles
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Hands-on experience with at least one UI automation framework: Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Experience automating REST and/or gRPC APIs
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for test automation
• Solid SQL skills and experience with database validation
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and modern web architectures
• Strong debugging, communication, and documentation skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred qualifications

• Contract testing tools: Pact, Spring Cloud Contract
• Performance testing with JMeter, Gatling, k6, or Locust
• Security testing tools: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Snyk
• Familiarity with chaos engineering and resilience testing
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
