Software Development Engineer in Test

Role Overview

Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Bright Vision Technologies.

This is a 100% remote (U.S.), full-time Direct W2 role. You will bring strong software engineering practices to test automation by building and improving automation frameworks and partnering with development teams to embed quality engineering throughout the SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and continuously improve test automation frameworks
• Write production-quality test code
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, engineering, operations, business stakeholders) to turn ambiguous requirements into robust solutions
• Partner with development teams to embed quality engineering throughout the SDLC
• Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers
• Implement testing across unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and security for modern distributed systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 5+ years experience as an SDET or in test-focused software engineering roles
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Hands-on experience with at least one UI automation framework: Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Experience automating REST and/or gRPC APIs
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for test automation
• Solid SQL skills and database validation experience
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and modern web architectures
• Excellent debugging, communication, and documentation skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Contract testing tools: Pact and/or Spring Cloud Contract
• Performance testing: JMeter, Gatling, k6, or Locust
• Security testing tools: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Snyk
• Familiarity with chaos engineering and resilience testing
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
