Software Development Engineer in Test

Role Overview

Join Alteryx as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). You will analyze requirements, design and implement test strategies, improve automated test frameworks, run performance tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Key Missions

• Analyze requirements to produce a complete test strategy and detailed test cases.
• Design, implement, and improve manual and automated tests across the testing pyramid.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to contribute as a valuable member of an autonomous, cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enhance automated test frameworks.
• Perform performance testing.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure quality, robustness, and performance.

Requirements

• 4+ years as an SDET, QA Engineer, or equivalent.
• Strong ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Practical experience with automation frameworks such as pytest, Selenium, and Playwright.
• Understanding of microservices-based web applications (frontend, backend, and database layers).
• Bash and familiarity with Unix/Linux/Mac development environments.
• Git experience (required).
• CI/CD experience (e.g., GitLab CI preferred, Jenkins acceptable).
• Strong understanding of SDLC and Testing Pyramid concepts.
• Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript for test automation (both required).
• Exposure to cloud platforms with AWS required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with global, cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Locust.
• Experience developing Ansible playbooks.
• Experience enhancing automation frameworks for UI/API/component/unit tests.
• Experience with AI products with non-deterministic behavior.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• PowerShell knowledge (for Windows automation workflows).
• Cloud experience with GCP/Azure.

Education

• BS/BE/BTech in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
