Role overview

Software Developer — Backend (Member of Technical Staff), US. You’ll build and shape high-performance, scalable backend systems with technical ownership across architecture, tooling, and operations. The team emphasizes leadership plus hands-on coding, with AI and automation used to accelerate development, improve performance, and detect/resolve issues faster.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain cloud-native backend services using Go microservices.
• Lead architectural modernization: modularization to improve scalability, observability, and developer velocity.
• Own the full system lifecycle:
  • API design and data modeling
  • Deployment (CI/CD) and live-traffic monitoring
  • Integration & load testing
  • Telemetry & data analysis
  • Experiment design (A/B testing) and continuous iteration
• Drive architecture evolution:
  • Decompose monoliths, migrate legacy systems
  • Build shared frameworks and reusable service components
  • Evaluate and adopt new backend technologies
• Apply AI-driven tooling/automation for code analysis, testing, and reliability.
• Define observability standards and fault-tolerance strategies for distributed systems.
• Partner with product, mobile, and data teams to deliver seamless experiences.
• Lead technical discussions, mentor developers, and influence backend/infrastructure strategy.

Requirements

• Ability to create and lead roadmaps/initiatives aligned with business objectives.
• Deep expertise in Go; PHP experience with legacy systems is a bonus.
• Proven experience architecting modular, maintainable, high-performance microservices.
• Strong system design background, especially observability and performance optimization.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Protobuf, CI/CD pipelines, and auto-scaling architectures.
• Demonstrated use of AI and automation to improve developer velocity, reliability, or system intelligence.
• Strong expertise in production-readiness: instrumentation, SLOs/SLIs, fault tolerance, runbooks, incident triage, telemetry pipelines, and production diagnostics.
• Collaborative technical leadership in fast-moving environments; mentors others.

Nice to have

• Experience with PHP for legacy systems.
• Experience spanning mobile, web, and data domains.
