Role overview

Fortinet is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software components for current and future networking-related security products. The work focuses on building scalable, secure, and efficient software for cloud-native environments and integrating smoothly with a broader engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for networking-related products in cloud-native environments
• Architect and implement highly scalable features for Fortinet’s next-generation security platform
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing products to improve stability and quality
• Develop and optimize database solutions for efficient distributed cloud data storage, retrieval, and management
• Collaborate with DevOps and QA to support integration, testing, and deployment
• Deliver features on schedule while meeting quality standards
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders (written and verbal updates)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Extensive experience building cloud-based software across cross-platform environments
• Strong programming and debugging skills, especially Python (C/C++ is a plus)
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs for secure microservice communication
• Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and working with distributed large-scale data systems
• Strong understanding of networking protocols/technologies including: Firewall, IPSec, SSL, IdP, TLS, DNS, CASB, SDN, and TCP/IP
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

• Full-time role with US base salary range of $100,000–$145,000 (based on experience, skills, and location)
