About the role

Role: Software Architect (Remote)

Define and maintain the technical vision while staying hands-on—writing production-ready code alongside teams across multiple NEOGOV SaaS products.

Responsibilities

Hands-On Development (50–75%)

Write production-ready code with teams (C#/.NET)
Design and implement complex features, services, and platform capabilities
Conduct architecture and code reviews across multiple product teams (e.g., Onboard, eForms, Attract, Insight)
Maintain code quality using static analysis and security scanning (e.g., SonarQube, Mend)
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and drive containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Diagnose and resolve critical production issues; perform root-cause analysis and drive long-term fixes (e.g., pool crashes, connection pooling, database deadlocks)
Champion observability and monitoring (telemetry and performance monitoring)

Architectural Leadership & Strategy (25–50%)

Own and maintain NEOGOV’s overall architecture vision and strategic direction
Research emerging technologies and produce a technical roadmap with modernization milestones (e.g., framework upgrades, architecture transitions)
Ensure performance and scalability of the SaaS platform
Design with security as a core requirement; help ensure compliance with standards such as FedRAMP
Collaborate with engineering leads to resolve cross-team technical dependencies and improve system interoperability
Mentor architects and senior developers; promote excellence and continuous improvement
Lead and champion Agile engineering practices (sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative delivery)

Requirements

Proven ability to personally design and implement complex production features
Experience designing and optimizing large-scale distributed systems (scalability, reliability, reusability, performance)
Advanced expertise in modern Angular (v18+) and TypeScript for large-scale SPA development
Proficiency in state management and performance optimization for SPAs

Nice-to-haves

Deep experience with security/compliance programs (e.g., FedRAMP)
Strong background in observability/telemetry and performance monitoring
