About the role

Role overview

Autodesk’s COO architecture team is seeking a Software Architect to help design and evolve modern, scalable, maintainable, and secure cloud-native experiences. The role involves leading architectural direction and driving improvements to customer-facing and internal platforms, with flexibility to work remotely as long as you align with North American time zones.

Responsibilities

Lead technical discussions across teams in a matrix environment
Mentor developers on technologies and career growth
Evaluate future architecture/platform options using modeling and prototyping
Ensure architectures meet quality attributes like security, scalability, and resilience
Influence the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud-native frontend and backend systems
Design and implement high-quality code for complex areas
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business and product requirements into software
Share and evangelize technical information; gather feedback from Autodesk management
Contribute to near- and long-term technology roadmaps
Champion industry best practices
Serve as a subject matter expert in established and emerging cloud-native technologies

Requirements (Minimum)

10+ years as a software engineer or architect, with strong focus on cloud technologies
Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field (or equivalent education/experience)
Strong verbal and written communication in English
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
Proven experience leading architecture for globally deployed commercial software at scale
High ownership and collaborative mindset
Strong knowledge of cloud-native tools, languages, and frameworks
Working knowledge of LLMs and machine learning, including hands-on experience with ML tools
Broad software development/architecture knowledge with deep expertise in one or two domains
