About the role

Role Overview

Autodesk’s COO division is seeking a Software Architect to help design and evolve modern, scalable, maintainable, and secure cloud-native experiences for both internal and external customers. This role drives architectural innovation, quality attributes (security, scalability, resilience), and technical direction across a matrix of teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions across diverse teams in a matrix setting
  • Mentor developers on emerging and existing technologies and support career development
  • Evaluate architectural alternatives using modeling and prototyping
  • Influence architecture and implementation of cloud-native experiences (frontend and backend)
  • Design for quality attributes including security, scalability, and resilience
  • Write high-quality code for complex areas
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into software
  • Share and evangelize technical knowledge; present architecture initiatives to Autodesk management
  • Contribute to near- and long-term technology roadmaps
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in established and emerging cloud-native technologies

Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience as a software engineer or architect with strong focus on cloud technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
  • Proven success leading architecture for globally deployed commercial software systems at scale
  • Ownership mindset and strong collaboration
  • Broad knowledge of cloud-native development tools, languages, and frameworks

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of LLMs and machine learning; hands-on experience with ML tools in a development environment
  • Experience with (or strong familiarity with) technologies such as:
    • Material UI, React, Redux, Web Components
    • RESTful APIs, GraphQL
    • AWS-based server-side infrastructure

  • Remote work is available, with the ability to cover North American time zones during regular working hours.
