About the role
Role overview
Join GitLab as an SMB Solutions Architect (full remote) to help small and mid-sized customers in North America understand how GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform supports their technical goals and business outcomes. You will act as a trusted technical advisor during evaluations and solution design, working closely with Account Executives and cross-functional teams.
Key missions
- Trusted advisor: Guide customers through solution design and adoption during technical evaluations.
- Own evaluation process: Coordinate proofs of concept (PoC), proofs of value (PoV), solution design, and technical responses for tenders or audits.
- Partner with Sales: Collaborate with Small & Mid-Market Account Executives and regional sales teams in North America to shape account strategies for new business and expansion.
Profile / requirements
- Experience building trusted customer relationships and advocating internally across product, engineering, sales, and marketing.
- Interest in improving the quality and efficiency of technical evaluations via reusable assets, templates, and demo environments.
- Hands-on experience with GitLab or comparable source control, CI/CD, continuous deployment, and collaboration platforms; ability to map platform capabilities to customer use cases.
- Ability to run/guide evaluations including PoCs, PoVs, workshops, value stream assessments, and tender/audit technical contributions.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to both practitioners and senior business/technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency across the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including DevSecOps practices and CI/CD workflows.
- Practical knowledge of cloud computing, deployment patterns, security concepts, and operational considerations.
- Open to candidates with transferable experience from developer, DevOps, technical pre-sales, or other scale-oriented technical environments.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with technical evaluation quality tooling/assets (templates, demo environments) and experience improving evaluation processes.
