Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Role Overview

Bright Vision Technologies is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the availability, performance, and operational excellence of large-scale distributed systems in production. You’ll work at the boundary of development and operations, applying software engineering practices to improve reliability, reduce operational toil, and make reliability a first-class engineering deliverable.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and refine SLOs/SLIs and error budgets for critical services, using measurements to drive prioritization and engineering decisions.
• Lead incident response and resolution for production issues, acting as an effective incident commander when needed.
• Conduct high-quality post-incident reviews and drive lasting improvements.
• Design and implement monitoring, logging, and tracing (Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry and similar tooling) for actionable visibility.
• Build and maintain on-call processes, runbooks, and escalation paths to improve MTTR/MTTD while supporting engineer well-being.
• Automate operational toil by building production-grade tooling using Python, Go, Bash (or similar).

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in reliability/operations for large-scale production systems.
• Strong systems knowledge combined with hands-on programming.
• Measurement-driven mindset with the ability to design and automate operational processes.
• Technical coding assessment is mandatory.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with common observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/EFK, or Datadog.
• Experience improving operational processes (on-call, runbooks, incident management) to reduce MTTR/MTTD.

• 100% remote within the Continental United States.
• Full-time, direct W2 employment with Bright Vision Technologies.
• Long-term, multi-year in-house Statement of Work (SOW) engagement.
