About the role
Role Overview
The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) improves Origami’s time to resolution while advancing site reliability, scalability, and performance across the platform and client environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead post-incident investigations for the SRE team
- Perform in-depth incident analyses to identify root causes and create preventative strategies
- Draft clear, insightful RCAs for customer delivery
- Cross-train colleagues on using observability tools during incident/performance investigations
- Provide visibility to stakeholders throughout the Site Reliability process
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement system enhancements for scalability and stability
- Build client-focused dashboards/alerts to proactively detect performance challenges
- Monitor and continuously improve time-to-resolution (TTR) metrics
- Maintain and configure core observability tooling to ensure incident response readiness and key metrics/data availability
- Create an actionable feedback loop to Observability and Engineering teams to improve MELT and development patterns
- Contribute to automation tools that streamline incident response
- Proactively prevent incidents and reduce platform impact
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of proven Site Reliability Engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of SRE best practices and incident management protocols
- Deep experience using and/or configuring observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Sumo Logic (or similar)
- Proficiency reading and writing code (e.g., JavaScript, .NET, SQL)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and architecture patterns (AWS/Azure)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to incident analysis
- Experience operating in a public cloud environment (AWS strongly preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot C#/.NET web applications to identify bugs and performance issues
- Solid knowledge of SaaS operations
- Ability to succeed in ambiguous environments with varying operational maturity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Windows and SQL Server troubleshooting experience
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Prior experience as a Software Engineer and/or System Administrator
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $100,000–$120,000 (dependent on factors such as skills, experience, and location)
- Eligible for a bonus
