Site Reliability Engineer II

Role Overview

Site Reliability Engineer II on Akamai’s Site Reliability Team, working across teams to solve complex reliability and content delivery challenges. You’ll design, develop, and operate automation and infrastructure that support Akamai Compute products while improving reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams on deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution
• Improve reliability through workflow, infrastructure, and application optimization
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across systems
• Develop and maintain automated tools and scripts for:
  • reliability and deployment processes
  • incident response efficiency
  • reducing operational toil and improving deployment safety
• Enhance system monitoring for faster error detection and remediation
• Support service restoration by participating in on-call rotations
• Contribute to capacity planning, autoscaling configuration, and workload scheduling for AI compute infrastructure
• Provide support and mentorship for engineers in the department

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
• Experience in SysAdmin (Linux/Unix), DevOps, or SRE roles working with large-scale distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and large-scale containerization systems
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python or Go
• Experience with configuration management using Terraform, SaltStack, or Ansible
• Ability to define SLOs and use observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing
• Demonstrate accountability for reliability and effective collaboration, including with teams unfamiliar with SRE practices

• Experience improving monitoring and incident workflows in production environments at scale
