About the role

Role overview

Join Platter via Parallel as a Shopify Theme Developer to enhance and optimize Shopify theme features for clients. You’ll convert Figma designs into responsive, accessible, SEO-friendly Shopify themes and troubleshoot/debug implementations on the Shopify platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom Shopify theme features using HTML, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript, and React
  • Enhance core Shopify theme features with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Convert Figma designs into fully functional, responsive Shopify themes
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues on the Shopify platform
  • QA changes to ensure high standards for performance, accessibility, and SEO
  • Implement and integrate third-party apps and extensions into Shopify themes
  • Stay up to date with Shopify platform advancements and best practices

Required skills & qualifications

  • 8+ years front-end development experience
  • 2+ years Shopify theme development and Tailwind CSS
  • 4+ years TypeScript
  • 2+ years React/AlpineJS
  • Strong frontend expertise: JavaScript/TypeScript, Vanilla JS, Alpine JS, React
  • Strong understanding of the browser DOM and developer tools
  • Advanced responsive design with Tailwind CSS
  • Expertise translating static designs into interactive interfaces
  • Semantic HTML and deep knowledge of accessibility (a11y), SEO, and HTML element functionality
  • Shopify theme development: Liquid, Shopify core data models
  • Advanced knowledge of metafields and metaobjects, plus Shopify Search & Discovery app
  • Professional English fluency and strong communication/writing skills

Nice to have

  • Shopify CLI and Admin API experience
  • Prettier, ESLint, Git
  • Pull request/code review workflow experience
  • Browser storage/caching strategies
  • State management tools like Zustand
  • Tools like Asana, Jira, Confluence, Figma
  • Undergraduate degree and/or relevant certifications

Remote work expectations

  • Ability to work remotely, meet deadlines, and manage schedule
  • Reliable internet and appropriate hardware (mic/webcam)
  • Dedicated workspace for team meetings
  • Flexible hours with expectation to overlap mostly with EST
