About the role

Role Overview

Nebulab is seeking an experienced Shopify Engineer to help deliver high-quality eCommerce solutions for clients. You’ll work on complex Shopify Plus projects—from custom theme development to headless commerce—while collaborating closely with designers, strategists, and other developers.

Responsibilities

First 3 months:
- Onboard into Nebulab’s Shopify development workflows and active projects
- Start contributing to theme customizations and app development tasks
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate cross-functionally
3–6 months:
- Take on larger Shopify Plus implementations and help lead delivery
- Drive impact on project delivery and client satisfaction
- Integrate third-party services and APIs with Shopify stores
6–12 months:
- Fully own major Shopify projects end-to-end (requirements to deployment)
- Mentor junior engineers and help establish best practices
- Lead internal workshops/presentations to elevate team skills
- Contribute to the Shopify ecosystem via app development and open-source

Requirements

3+ years developing on the Shopify platform
Proficiency with Liquid templating and Shopify Theme development
Strong skills in JavaScript, React, and modern front-end technologies
Solid understanding of eCommerce fundamentals and best practices
Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and clients
Inclusive, community-driven mindset with eagerness to learn and share knowledge
Proficiency with Shopify Plus and the Shopify API
Hands-on experience building Shopify apps (public and private)

Nice to Have

Experience with Hydrogen and headless commerce approaches
Familiarity with Shopify CLI and Theme Kit
Knowledge of GraphQL and the Shopify Admin API
Experience with Ruby on Rails for custom Shopify app development
Experience with checkout extensions and customizations
Prior consulting or client management experience
