Role overview

TextNow is seeking an experienced Senior Web Developer to help build and maintain its voice and messaging platform on the Web. You’ll work with developers, product managers, and UX/UI designers to deliver intuitive, user-centric experiences for real-time communication.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain a high-quality Web application for voice and messaging features (voice calling, chat, real-time notifications, etc.)
Write clean, maintainable, and testable Web applications in JavaScript using modern techniques and frameworks
Collaborate cross-functionally to define, design, and ship new features
Work with real-time communication protocols and stacks such as WebRTC, SIP, and related messaging/voice frameworks
Optimize performance for voice and messaging (audio quality, latency, and bandwidth usage)
Troubleshoot and debug issues (performance, crashes, and other bugs) to ensure a smooth, stable experience
Own problems and solutions end-to-end (from ideation through deployment)
Be data-driven and support decisions through experimentation
Deploy features to millions of users and monitor impact

Requirements

5+ years of web application development experience
Strong web fundamentals: JavaScript, HTML, CSS
Experience with web frameworks, specifically React and Marionette
Familiarity with desktop notifications and managing network connections for real-time updates
Experience with modern web development tools and the debugging process
Understanding of UX principles and ability to design simple solutions to complex problems
Experience with automated testing (Unit, UI, Integration testing)

Nice to have

Experience with real-time communication protocols/technologies such as WebRTC and SIP
