Role overview

Partner with product, design, editorial, and engineering teams to bring illustration, motion, and visual craft into product flows and high-visibility editorial/sponsored experiences—improving clarity and measurable conversion outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Visual craft & collaboration: Work with product designers across pods (e.g., insurance, financial products, home services) to deliver illustration, motion, and visual polish; participate in critiques and propose solutions to product problems.
• Illustration & visual systems: Create original illustration and icon sets and visual assets across product surfaces (editorial pages, templates, conversion funnels, AI/LLM templates, onboarding). Build scalable illustration systems (not one-off assets).
• Motion & animation: Own motion work end-to-end: storyboard/concept → After Effects composition → Lottie export → hand off lightweight SVG/CSS animation specs to engineering. Ensure delivered motion matches design intent.
• Design system contribution: Define and maintain illustration and motion guidelines within the design system, including style, usage rules, reusable components, and motion tokens.
• Brand & sponsored content: Contribute to sponsored content packages and media kit deliverables with BD/editorial/brand stakeholders when needed.
• Rapid prototyping: Produce fast visual comps, moodboards, and animation tests to align stakeholders before production.
• Engineering partnership: Collaborate with front-end engineers to specify motion behavior (easing, timing) and fallback states so implementation matches the design.
• Cross-functional communication: Explain visual choices clearly to non-design stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5–8 years as a visual designer/graphic designer/illustrator/motion designer, ideally within a product, editorial, or digital media environment.
• Portfolio showing range: original illustration, strong typographic/layout craft, and motion pieces from concept through shipped assets.
• Deep fluency in After Effects, Lottie (Bodymovin or equivalent), Figma, and the Adobe suite.
• Comfort with SVG animation and an understanding of how motion ships on the web.
• Experience producing scalable illustration systems (the posting cuts off mid-sentence, but indicates system-building experience as required).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience delivering illustration/motion for product conversion funnels, onboarding, or AI/LLM-related templates.
• Demonstrated ability to influence non-design stakeholders through clear design rationale.
