Senior UX Design Engineer

Role overview

As a Senior UX Design Engineer at Greenhouse Software, you’ll bridge design intent and production code. In a “first-of-its-kind” role, you’ll serve multiple feature teams by turning fragmented UI work into reusable, production-grade system capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Convert one-off UI work into reusable components, patterns, and system capabilities that compound value across teams.
• Build and maintain production-grade components across core workflows, with accessibility and interaction fidelity built in.
• Own a single documentation source of truth for Design and Engineering, including clear APIs, variants, and working examples.
• Set and drive contribution standards and champion design system adoption across the organization.
• Track how AI-powered design tooling is evolving and position your work accordingly.
• Use a workflow-first approach: start from the ideal user workflow, work backward to the right technology, and ship live working code.

Requirements

• 5+ years of front-end engineering, UX engineering, or related experience.
• Strong component architecture skills and experience shipping component-driven systems.
• Solid understanding of accessibility best practices, including WCAG and state modeling.
• Fluent with design tokens, layout systems, and interaction states.
• Documentation-first mindset: enable teams to self-serve from your docs.
• Cross-functional collaboration between design and engineering (co-own decisions, not just handoffs).
• Experience using Storybook (or similar) for component documentation/showcases (plus).

Nice-to-haves

• Design token pipeline experience and tooling.
• Visual regression testing and CI quality gate experience.
• Working knowledge of AI development tools such as Claude, MCP, Code Sandbox, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience shipping design systems at another organization.

Preferred stack

• React + TypeScript strongly preferred.
