Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript)

Build and scale backend services that power gameplay and critical player systems for a fast-growing iGaming startup. You’ll design API-first, microservice-oriented architectures and own backend features end-to-end, from implementation to rollout and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services in TypeScript + Node.js powering gameplay, wallets, payments, promotions, and player account management
• Architect API-first, microservice systems that are modular, resilient, and independently deployable
• Develop and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party integrations (payments, KYC/identity, fraud, analytics)
• Own backend features end-to-end: design → implementation → production rollout → operational support
• Implement secure, audit-friendly transaction processing for deposits, withdrawals, bonuses, and settlement workflows
• Ensure consistency, traceability, and reliability across high-volume financial operations and asynchronous workflows
• Collaborate with AppSec and compliance partners to meet PCI DSS expectations (access control, data handling, logging, and vulnerability remediation)
• Comfortably work across environments that may span on-prem and cloud

Requirements

• 5+ years designing, building, and scaling backend services
• Strong experience with TypeScript + Node.js (bonus for NestJS and/or Express)
• Experience building transactional, audit-friendly systems
• Proven ability to design scalable, reliable system architecture
• Solid database skills, especially PostgreSQL
• Security-first mindset focused on data integrity and traceability
• Comfortable working autonomously in a startup environment
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Hands-on experience using AI platforms to accelerate development and testing

Nice to Have

• FinTech, gaming/casino, payments, or regulatory experience
• WebSockets or real-time systems experience
