Role Overview

Senior Transit and Rail Signals Design Lead (Signals Group) at SYSTRA US. You will lead and deliver signal system designs and construction plans for transit and rail projects, working closely with a multidisciplinary team and supporting both office and field work.

Responsibilities

Produce and participate in signal system designs for transit and rail projects with little to no supervision, including:
- Automatic Train Control (ATCS)
- Vital microprocessor and relay-based interlocking
- Block signal systems
- Signal circuit drawings and typical highway crossing warning systems
- Signal system integration
Create detailed signal system construction plans, including:
- Site plans
- Signal installation drawings
- Signal installation and equipment typical drawings
- Temporary interface designs
Review circuit designs for:
- Failures
- Customer technical specification compliance
Write test and commissioning specifications and procedures:
- Develop test plans and cutover staging
Use simulation tools to pretest application logic:
- SATs or Vital-Sim (vital and non-vital logic)
Lead testing and commissioning activities with a signalmen team

Required Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of signaling principles for automatic and cab signaling systems
In-depth understanding of Boolean algebra for signal application logic programs
10–20 years of experience in a Railroad Signals environment
Knowledge of Positive Train Control (PTC) and associated federal regulations
10+ years of progressive signal system design experience

Preferred Qualifications

BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering / Engineering Technology
Master’s or other advanced degree(s)
Direct signal system experience with a rail or transit agency
Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)
PMP certification

Location / Work Setup

Based in the greater San Diego / Orange County area
Requires presence in both office and field locations
