About the role
Role Overview
Join Pinterest as a Senior Technical Program Manager (Personalization). You will drive programs that power Pinterest’s personalization systems and experiences, working across teams such as Relevance/ML, product surfaces, and platform teams to ensure Pinterest feels uniquely tailored to each user.
Key Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of personalization programs, spanning recommendation platforms, ranking strategies, optimization, and new anticipatory experiences.
- Drive cross-surface execution so personalization improvements scale effectively across multiple experiences.
- Partner with Relevance and Data Science to ensure ranking/modeling work prioritizes long-term value.
- Design and run the operating model for personalization programs.
- Align stakeholders across organizations and communicate complex work clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager (or similar role) leading complex, cross-functional technical programs.
- Strong program management fundamentals (organization, ability to manage multiple workstreams, and scalable governance/planning/communication).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain nuanced technical topics to senior leadership and diverse audiences.
- Experience creating or evolving processes/playbooks to improve planning, execution, and review of personalization work at scale.
- Experience with personalization/recommendations/relevance or similar ML/AI-driven systems in consumer products (e.g., feeds, search, ranking, discovery).
- Data-driven decision-making, comfortable partnering with Data Science on experiment design, interpreting results, and using metrics (engagement, retention, revisitation, latency).
- Ability to translate ambiguous personalization goals (e.g., “more anticipatory”, “optimize for long-term value”) into actionable roadmaps.
Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals
- AI-first execution mindset, including comfort using GenAI to accelerate TPM work and collaborating within AI governance/safety-by-design expectations.
