About the role
Role Overview
As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will lead high-priority, “cannot-fail” engineering programs at Confluent. You’ll drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Product, Finance, and Security to deliver foundational platform initiatives with predictable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Drive complex initiatives: Lead end-to-end delivery for large-scale technical programs (e.g., FedRAMP, compliance readiness, or platform-wide architecture shifts).
- Technical liaison: Translate business goals into technical requirements and communicate architecture trade-offs to VP/C-suite stakeholders.
- Operational excellence: Set program management standards including milestones, KPIs, risk mitigation, and regular status reporting.
- Strategic alignment: Coordinate with engineering and product leadership on roadmaps, cross-team dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Stakeholder management: Facilitate decisions across global/distributed teams and manage internal/external partner relationships.
Requirements
- 5+ years in a technical program management role in cloud-native or high-scale software environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Confluent Platform or Apache Kafka.
- Experience building dashboards/reports using JQL, SQL, BigQuery, or Data Studio.
- Background working with SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure teams.
