Senior Technical Program Manager (App Modernization)

Role Overview

You will join MongoDB as a Senior Technical Program Manager on the Application Modernization Platform team. You will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives by combining technical acumen, analytical skills, and program delivery expertise to maximize business value.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of complex, cross-functional application modernization efforts.
• Partner with stakeholders across Product, Design, Engineering, and the wider organization to execute against product vision and business objectives.
• Build a strategic program management approach that balances hands-on oversight with process-driven operationalization.
• Influence improvements to tools, operations, and architecture based on program delivery experience.
• Participate in technical design discussions, summarizing trade-offs, outcomes, and next steps.
• Use technical tooling and methods for code analysis, refactoring, and automated testing.
• Coordinate multiple independent work streams across teams and organizations.

Requirements

• Interest in business automation, including Python scripting, Google Apps Script, and Slack automation.
• Project tracking experience; Jira preferred.
• Ability to partner with technical stakeholders to break down engineering challenges into deliverables.
• Strong execution and prioritization skills; a role model for effective delivery practices.
• Familiarity with code analysis/refactoring and automated testing.
• 5+ years of software development background.
• Preferably experience with Java web services, relational data modeling, and SQL.
• Strong stakeholder communication and ability to balance product goals with engineering constraints.
• Demonstrated user empathy and ability to deliver impactful experiences.
• Skilled at coordinating across diverse engineers and stakeholders; highly organized.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with MongoDB or a comparable technology.
• Exposure to generative AI and Machine Learning.
