Senior System Test Engineer

Role overview

Join Skylo as a Senior System Test Engineer. You will design and execute quality assurance strategies to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance with 3GPP standards for Skylo’s satellite NTN network.

Key missions & responsibilities

• Define and execute quality assurance strategies for Skylo’s satellite NTN network.
• Collaborate with system architects, software developers, and network engineers to set test strategies for new features and releases.
• Perform integration, interoperability, and regression testing across segments including:
  • Device/app segments
  • RAN
  • Core Network
  • Satellite
• Conduct system issue analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices for system validation methodologies and processes.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with:
  • Load testing, chaos testing, fault injection, and efficiency testing
  • Protocol validation and device testing (e.g., AT commands and other methods)
  • UE emulators
  • System integration, performance benchmarking, and end-to-end validation
• Familiarity with QA from acceptance criteria and requirements to test suites.
• Strong understanding of 3GPP cellular protocols (LTE/5G/NB-IoT NTN), with emphasis on RAN and Core Network.
• Experience scripting/programming in Bash, Python, Go, or Ruby on Unix/Linux, and running automation jobs with Jenkins.
• Knowledge of REST APIs for testing (e.g., Postman) and gRPC.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with satellite/NTN systems, including LEO/MEO/GEO connectivity.
• Familiarity with RF testing methodologies, lab equipment, and field measurement tools.
• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with JIRA & Confluence.

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure and virtualized test environments.
• Experience designing/building test automation frameworks using Robot Framework and Python.
• Experience leading system validation projects and/or mentoring engineers.
