Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer (GenAI Platform)

Role Overview

Join Reddit as a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer (GenAI Platform) to lead the vision for Reddit’s large-scale GenAI Platform. You will shape platform architecture, drive strategy for a unified LLM/LAG Gateway, and define the enterprise-grade approach to RAG. You will also set direction for agentic AI workflows and establish MLOps/LLMOps standards.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the LLM gateway, with a focus on unified API endpoints.
• Own the end-to-end platform strategy, including vision, strategy, and roadmap for the GenAI platform at scale.
• Define the platform architecture and operating model that enable teams to build, deploy, and scale GenAI products reliably.
• Drive MLOps and LLMOps standards, emphasizing scalability, reliability, performance, and developer experience.

Requirements

• Track record leading technical strategy and delivering AI platforms in cloud-based production environments at scale.
• Ability to turn strategy into execution: lead complex initiatives end-to-end and deliver high-quality platform outcomes.
• Strong communication skills; can explain technical AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency with common ML engineering languages/frameworks such as Go and Python.
• 10+ years experience in ML Engineering, AI Platform Engineering, or Cloud AI Deployment roles.

Nice to Have

• Experience with model serving, inference pipelines, monitoring, and observability for AI systems.

Cloud & Platform Experience

• Deep cloud experience supporting an ML platform, including AWS, Google Cloud Storage, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Deep experience operating Kubernetes and other orchestration systems in large-scale production environments.
