Role Overview

Join Affirm as a Senior Staff Frontend Software Engineer (Web Infrastructure). You will define and lead the web platform and infrastructure across all web engineering, set best practices, make key architectural decisions, and drive delivery of critical initiatives.

Key Missions

• Define and lead the web platform and infrastructure across web engineering, shaping best practices and ensuring successful delivery of major initiatives.
• Mentor and grow a team of senior engineers; build strong working relationships with architects and product teams.
• Architect and contribute to decisions on the right platform, tools, and technologies to improve consistency and reliability and to drive web development strategy.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Create and drive a complete technical vision and roadmap.
• Make bold system- and platform-level calls while staying detail-oriented.
• Use strong written and verbal communication to influence stakeholders and share critical decisions.
• Demonstrate project and people management experience (influence, communication, coaching).
• Lead critical projects and leverage partner teams for company-wide outcomes.
• Build technical strategy that drives improvements in reliability and performance.
• Take an ownership mindset and help foster a similar culture.

Requirements

• 10+ years architecting, building, and scaling web apps for large user bases.
• Proven experience developing and implementing technical strategy that materially improved system reliability and performance.
• Ability to influence and communicate technical decisions with stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep understanding of current and emerging web technologies, including:
  • React, TypeScript
  • NX, Oxlint, TurboRepo, RSPack, Vite
