About the role
Role Overview
As a Senior / Staff Front-End Engineer at Equilibrium Energy, you will shape frontend architecture for energy software, drive strategic UI/UX initiatives, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across a remote-first, multi-time-zone team.
Key Missions
- Make critical frontend architecture decisions and guide strategic initiatives.
- Tackle complex and ambiguous problem spaces and translate domain requirements into elegant, scalable user interfaces.
- Lead technical mentorship and help grow junior colleagues through best practices.
Responsibilities
- Own frontend (or full-stack) engineering efforts at scale, including conception, development, and ownership of complex, data-intensive UI/UX architectures.
- Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to align technical strategy with business goals.
- Establish and improve testing and performance strategies for large TypeScript/React codebases.
Requirements
- Experienced Frontend or Full-Stack Engineer with proven impact leading frontend/full-stack engineering at scale.
- Strong frontend expertise in large, data-intensive UI/UX and performance optimization.
- Deep knowledge of modern frontend testing: unit, functional, and end-to-end testing.
- Examples: Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright.
- Collaboration skills for a remote-first company operating across the EU and the Americas.
- Track record mentoring engineers and improving team quality and productivity.
- Understanding of security best practices (enterprise experience is a plus).
- Experience designing strategies to consume, visualize, and interact with large, complex datasets (including data models and APIs).
- Commitment to clean energy and climate change impact.
- Background in the energy/power systems sector.
Nice to Have
- AI-augmented development experience (GenAI/LLMs, agentic tools such as Cursor/Windsurf).
- Python proficiency; FastAPI and Plotly are pluses.
- Auth0 for authentication/authorization.
- Observability/error tracking (e.g., Sentry, Grafana, Honeycomb, Prometheus).
- Experience building on AWS.
- Advanced degree in computer science.
- Experience with CI/CD and orchestration tools such as CI/CD, Pants, Docker, Kubernetes.
