Senior Staff Data Engineer - Platform Data and Analytics

Role overview

Senior Staff Data Engineer for Faire’s Platform Data and Analytics organization. You’ll lead/influence across multiple Platform and Product groups, enabling Product Engineering, Data Science, Product Management, Strategy, Analytics, Finance, and others to move fast without worrying about underlying infrastructure.

Teams you’ll work with

• Data Infrastructure: builds/operates a secure, reliable, cost-efficient platform for data ingestion, storage, compute, orchestration, and governance.
• Analytics Platform: provides data warehousing capabilities, foundational data assets, and tools to reduce time from data to insights.
• You’ll also influence/partner with Product Analytics Engineering (PAE) and Data Science (DS) functions.

What you’ll do

• Define technology strategy, roadmaps, architecture patterns, and guidance across data/analytics.
• Plan and execute scalable technology projects as Faire grows.
• Lead architecture development focused on:
  • data integrity, security, performance, scale, reliability
  • monitoring/alerting
• Engage in team planning/prioritization, balancing urgent near-term needs with long-term goals.
• Provide technical mentorship on difficult, open-ended problems.
• Drive engineering practices for:
  • cost-efficient compute/storage
  • ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingest, and warehousing
  • monitoring, alerting, and cost tracking
  • data security, privacy, and governance

Qualifications (partial as provided)

• Experience designing, developing, and operating data streaming and batch systems.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data ingestion, and data warehousing.
