About the role
Role overview
As a Senior Solution Architect at Matillion, you will lead the pre-sales lifecycle and act as a customer-facing trusted advisor. You’ll diagnose technical and business pain points, tailor proofs and demos, and help customers achieve fast early success.
Key missions
- Identify and validate technical and business pain points, confirm root causes, and map the desired future state to success metrics and measurable business outcomes.
- Build and deliver customized demos, and lead workshops, trials, or POCs to validate solution fit and highlight competitive advantages.
- Cultivate trusted advisor relationships to support:
- infrastructure setup
- monitoring/visibility via adoption dashboards
- customers’ path to their first “win”
- Represent Matillion at industry events and collect customer insights to inform product improvement.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, especially in the AI and data ecosystems.
Requirements
- Strong communication and presentation skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 5–7 years working with Enterprise customers in a technical role (e.g., Solution Architect, Sales Engineer, or similar).
- Proven solution selling experience: demonstrate value through tailored software presentations and handle technical objections.
- Experience with AI/agentic AI solutions (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, n8n).
- Deep cloud expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Cloud Data Platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
- In-depth database knowledge:
- Relational: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server
- NoSQL: MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB
- Hands-on technical problem-solving and integration (e.g., APIs, Linux, SQL).
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Matillion Data Productivity Cloud / Matillion ETL and competitive ETL solutions.
- Big data and analytics stack familiarity: Spark, PySpark, data lakes, and MPP databases (Teradata, Vertica, Netezza).
- Value-based sales motion experience, including MEDDPPICC and Command of the Message.
- Familiarity with Git and Python.
- Experience using Salesforce.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
