Senior Software Engineering Manager (Cloud Platform)

Role overview

Senior Software Engineering Manager for the Cloud Platform, acting as Product Owner for Salesforce’s next-generation internal cloud platform. The role focuses on balancing developer velocity with rigorous security and compliance, while building and leading a high-performing engineering organization.

Key missions & responsibilities

• Own the internal cloud platform product roadmap as the ultimate Product Owner, prioritizing based on customer needs and business value.
• Partner with Security and the CISO to ensure automated security guardrails satisfy enterprise compliance requirements.
• Bridge security and developer velocity by ensuring the platform meets strict compliance standards while enabling fast delivery.
• Grow and lead the engineering organization through hiring, coaching, and development.
• Promote and embed a culture of:
  • “No Ticket-Ops” (tasks fully automated)
  • “Shift-Left” (security and quality earlier in the lifecycle)
  • Psychological safety, post-mortem excellence, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of modern cloud-native security concepts, including:
  • Private-by-Default networking
  • Centralized egress inspection
  • Enterprise-grade secrets management
• Experience designing and operating mission-critical services with 99.999% uptime, including:
  • Automated failover
  • Active-active regional architectures
• 8+ years of software engineering and/or cloud infrastructure experience.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience.
• Background operating as Product Owner and/or Engineering Manager for an enterprise internal developer platform / cloud landing zone.
• Deep understanding of multi-account cloud strategy, centralized governance, and programmatic preventative guardrails.
• Experience leading teams to scale automated “vending machine” style solutions for instant secure, compliant cloud provisioning.
• Experience in heavily regulated environments and automating compliance evidence collection, including familiarity with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, SOC 2, SOX.

• Experience using LLMs and AI Agents to automate code reviews, security audits, or operational runbooks.
• Demonstrated track record improving engagement, diversity, and retention in technical platform or SRE teams.
