Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Victory Live, you’ll be a core driver of execution in the engineering organization. You will lead projects from planning through launch, tackle the hardest technical problems, and elevate engineering quality through mentoring and rigorous design/peer review. You’ll also help the team adopt AI-assisted and agentic development workflows to ship faster without sacrificing correctness.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex initiatives from planning through launch with product and technical leadership (own technical execution).
• Take on the hardest parts of projects—be the primary engineer writing complex/critical components.
• Shape architecture: participate in design discussions, create design docs, and clearly communicate tradeoffs.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pairing, code review, and skills growth (including AI tooling fluency).
• Drive process improvements by identifying recurring workflow pain and proposing changes.
• Push AI-native engineering: build internal tooling, prompt patterns, and agentic workflows that improve team throughput.
• Be a reliable code reviewer across the team (including outside your immediate scope).
• Operate on-call: understand production services, lead incident response when needed, and write postmortems.

Requirements

• 5+ years building production software, including leading non-trivial projects to completion.
• Proven ability to make strong architectural decisions and explain tradeoffs in writing.
• Strong technical depth in at least one area: backend systems, API design, distributed services, web frontend, or mobile.
• Mentorship experience and a track record of helping others grow.
• Fluent and deliberate use of AI tooling across the engineering lifecycle (design, code, test, debug, review, docs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading projects in marketplace, ticketing, e-commerce, or two-sided platforms.
• Familiarity with production/observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Kibana, Airbrake, Sentry, OpsGenie (or equivalents).
• Experience building or contributing to internal LLM-powered tools, agent workflows, or RAG systems.
