Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Fandango is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Operations team. You’ll build and improve tools and systems that enable developer productivity and deliver platform enhancements across Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and Fandango at Home.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build and maintain internal tools and developer platforms.
• Develop backend services, APIs, and data models that support platform capabilities and scale.
• Build frontend interfaces for internal tooling using React and Next.js.
• Translate product requirements with product managers and stakeholders into technical solutions.
• Write clean, well-tested code with unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage.
• Partner with Platform and Infrastructure teams to leverage shared services and tooling.
• Collaborate with SRE on reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Support operational handoffs and ensure readiness with Operations/Platform teams.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing for monitoring and debugging.
• Participate in on-call rotations for services you own.
• Manage releases via CI/CD (including feature flags and staged rollouts).
• Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural decision records (ADRs).
• Participate in code reviews and provide/receive feedback.
• Continuously improve development practices and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of full-stack development with strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Strong frontend skills: React, state management, responsive design.
• Solid backend experience: APIs and database systems.
• Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, or productivity tooling.
• Continuous integration experience with testing best practices (unit, integration, e2e).
• Ability to architect scalable, secure, maintainable applications.
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS, plus infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong Git skills and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus (Nice to Have)

• Experience building high-traffic platforms or internal developer tooling at scale.
• Deep understanding of system design and event-driven architecture.
