Role overview

Senior Software Engineer at The Media Trust to build internet-scale security solutions that detect malicious behavior in digital advertising and protect users in real time. You’ll architect and deliver systems spanning serverless processing, browser-level threat detection, and automation to stay ahead of evolving attacks.

What you’ll build

• Security solutions that detect malicious JavaScript and prevent data breaches
• Serverless architectures processing massive data streams
• Browser-level detection systems (e.g., rendering engine, JavaScript execution, DOM/iframe behaviors)
• Intelligent automation to keep up with emerging threats

• Lead technical initiatives and architectural decisions
• Mentor engineers and improve system design across large-scale security programs

Responsibilities

• Architect and build cloud and browser-side components for security detection
• Drive quality-first engineering practices
• Navigate and support the AdTech ecosystem (including programmatic advertising workflows)

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years building scalable applications
• 5+ years JavaScript mastery
• AdTech experience (SSP, DSP, RTB)
• Experience with modern web frameworks and web performance
• AWS serverless and data-processing proficiency
• Database experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
• Agile/Scrum delivery mindset

Bonus / nice to have

• DOM manipulation and iframe sandboxing
• Web security knowledge (e.g., XSS, malvertising, web skimming)
• Ad verification expertise

Remote / location

• 100% remote, with optional in-person collaboration at the Northern Virginia/Tysons Corner office
• Priority for east coast candidates, especially those commuting distance to McLean, VA
