About the role
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Sysdig (reporting to the Engineering Manager), you will build scalable APIs and backend services for cloud security and real-time runtime insights. You’ll work in a high-traffic, complex data processing environment and take end-to-end ownership of features from design through deployment and operations.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain scalable APIs and services.
- Improve reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of owned services.
- Design and deliver software features from initial design → deployment → operation.
- Think creatively to handle traffic-intensive and distributed workloads.
- Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and operational support for services you own.
What You Will Bring
- Go experience in heavy-load production environments.
- Backend services and data processing pipeline experience, using:
- gRPC for APIs
- Asynchronous processing with message brokers such as NATS or Kafka
- Data store experience with one or more of:
- PostgreSQL, Redis, Object Storage, OpenSearch
- Knowledge of software design patterns such as CQRS and EDA.
- Experience running services in containerized environments.
- Proficiency with testing methodologies and automation to ensure software quality.
- Analytical decision-making in high-traffic, distributed systems.
- Collaborative mindset with trust and transparency.
What We Look For

- Ability to work in a remote-first environment with global teams and time zones.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Interest in security and observability.
- Exposure to or participation in open source communities.
