About the role

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) at Synack, working on attack surface intelligence capabilities within a collaborative, fast-paced team.

You’ll develop and integrate reconnaissance technologies, build scalable backend systems, and help advance engineering best practices for the cybersecurity platform.

Responsibilities

Develop and integrate cybersecurity testing and analysis systems with Synack’s platform
Build high-performance, resilient, scalable cloud software using microservices, containers, and modern backend architecture
Move services from CI/CD through production, owning quality and availability
Use GCP to build and run highly available systems
Identify and resolve performance issues across systems and components
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and Platform Engineering
Integrate monitoring and alerting into backend modules to improve availability and response times
Design, implement, and deliver well-tested scalable, highly available systems
Participate in design and code reviews
Provide guidance to junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning

Requirements

7+ years in distributed-systems and backend software engineering
Strong Golang (required)
Strong experience with microservices and backend API design, including:
- REST API design
- gRPC
Testing experience: unit testing and BDD testing
Strong design skills; UML is a bonus
Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) (desirable)
Experience with asynchronous messaging such as Google Pub/Sub and/or Kafka
In-depth knowledge of NoSQL and RDBMS technologies
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments (GCP preferred)
Agile team experience
Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration
Experience building scalable, observable microservice-based applications
Experience with GitOps and DevOps principles/practices/tools

Nice to Have

Interest in security / penetration testing
Interest in GenAI and LLM technologies

Eligibility / Constraints

Remote position based in the U.S.
Must be a U.S. citizen due to federal government contract requirements
