Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer for an AI Observability Platform (Remote, USA). You’ll build and scale the distributed backend systems that power evaluation, analytics, monitoring, and real-time processing for production AI/LLM workloads.

What You’ll Do

• Write maintainable, scalable, high-performance backend services (primarily in Go, plus Java and Python, with opportunities in TypeScript)
• Build high-volume, highly available analytics systems
• Design and implement APIs for ML and LLM workflows
• Prototype, optimize, and maintain backend services powering the core platform
• Extend/contribute to open-source OLAP databases and distributed message queue frameworks
• Develop monitoring tools for ML and LLM pipelines
• Research and implement visualization and dimensionality reduction algorithms in a distributed environment
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Customer Engineering
• Help build the company’s in-house AI agents

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on Golang experience (primary language)
• Startup experience: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and high ownership
• 5+ years building and operating high-performance backend systems
• Experience with at least some of: Python, TypeScript/Node, Java, or similar server-side languages
• Enthusiasm for the AI/LLM ecosystem and keeping up with emerging tech
• Track record scaling complex SaaS platforms
• Experience with public cloud and container orchestration (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes)

Nice to Have

• Distributed stream processing (Kafka, Gazette, or similar)
• OLAP systems experience
• Observability tooling knowledge (e.g., Prometheus)
• Familiarity with ML/Data Science
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or building AI products

Logistics

• Location: Remote, anywhere in the United States (remote-first; optional NYC/SF Bay Area offices + WFH stipend)
• Compensation: Up to $220,000 base per year
