Role: Senior Software Engineer, Search

Build and refine a modern, high-performance search experience used in critical real-world/public safety contexts. The role is primarily frontend, with enough fullstack awareness to deliver end-to-end features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain advanced frontend search experiences using React and TypeScript with a focus on usability and production performance
• Develop data-heavy interfaces, including map-based and visualization-driven search capabilities
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs/services, maintaining awareness of Node.js and distributed systems interactions
• Contribute to frontend architecture decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance in a high-traffic application
• Participate in the full delivery lifecycle: sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deployment
• Work cross-functionally with product and design to translate user needs into intuitive search workflows
• Improve continuously via debugging, performance optimization, and iterative enhancements

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience with strong modern frontend expertise
• Advanced proficiency in React and TypeScript; strong component-based architecture and UI/UX principles
• Experience building/working with data visualization tools and mapping technologies (e.g., Mapbox or Google Maps APIs)
• Solid understanding of backend concepts: REST or GraphQL APIs and service-oriented architecture
• Familiarity with Node.js and basic SQL for effective backend collaboration
• Strong problem-solving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Excellent communication and collaboration with an ownership-driven mindset

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, API Gateway, SNS/SQS)
• Frontend performance optimization at scale

Compensation & Benefits (as stated)

• $170,000–$190,000 base salary plus equity
