About the role
Role overview
Senior Software Engineer (SDET) is a hybrid engineering role combining hands-on test automation development and quality advocacy. You will establish and own the front-end testing practice for a Vue.js application while complementing existing back-end test coverage in the Ruby codebase.
What you’ll do
- Build and own the front-end test automation framework for the Vue.js application from scratch
- Participate in architectural/design discussions to ensure features are testable from day one
- Develop production-quality test infrastructure, utilities, and tooling to improve engineering efficiency
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to gate production deployments
- Act as a primary advocate for software quality, mentoring engineers on testing best practices
- Investigate complex bugs: reproduce edge cases and collaborate on lasting fixes
- Continuously monitor test execution, improve suite performance, and expand overall coverage
Requirements (minimum)
- 7+ years experience in software development or test automation engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years experience testing or developing within modern web architectures (preferably Ruby on Rails)
- 3+ years interacting with/testing modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically Vue.js
- Experience architecting/building/deploying E2E automated testing frameworks from scratch
- Strong understanding of relational databases for seeding/validating complex state changes
- Experience writing maintainable, production-quality code for test infrastructure and automated suites
- Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
Preferred qualifications
- Significant experience with Ruby on Rails
- Experience with Vuex and architecting user interfaces using Vue + Vuex
- Experience designing/maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience mentoring other engineers
- Experience integrating systems with production/manufacturing/operational workflows
- Familiarity with performance tuning, observability, and production monitoring
Logistics
- Hybrid Remote. Headquarters in Reno, NV; preference for local Reno-area candidates.
- Willingness to travel to HQ on an as-needed basis.
