Senior Robotics Software Engineer (Defence)

You will work on autonomy systems across air, land, sea, and space—spanning field integration, SIL/HIL testing, and customer on-site demos/troubleshooting. The role is varied day-to-day and involves owning technical direction as a senior engineer.

What you’ll do

• Lead technical design and architecture of autonomy solutions across one or more platforms, including making key trade-offs.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers (design/code reviews to maintain engineering standards).
• Develop and adapt autonomy components, including:
  • Mission behavior development
  • Navigation and decision-making logic
• Design autonomy capabilities to be modular and reusable across different vehicle types and programs.
• Integrate and deploy autonomy software onto embedded Linux and other hardware platforms, including interfacing with sensors.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust, scalable autonomy solutions for defense customers.

Work environment

• The company is primarily in-office 5 days a week, with flexibility for occasional remote work (schedule-managed by employees). Contractor roles may differ.
• Based in London, with Defence specifically focused on delivering dual-use national security autonomy.

Requirements / qualifications

• Proven experience in robotics/autonomy software engineering and integration across hardware + software domains.
• Ability to operate across SIL/HIL development and live testing.
• Strong background in areas such as mission behaviors, platform integration, navigation, and related autonomy/vehicle intelligence systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience from or familiarity with defense / national security or dual-use autonomy programs.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in complex engineering environments.
