About the role
Role Overview
Join Forma’s Product Experience (PX) team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll build and maintain the systems behind Forma’s member and admin experiences, including:
- Member portal
- Admin portal
- Mobile app
- Integrations
You’ll work across the stack to deliver intuitive, secure, and scalable experiences. Fullstack experience is preferred, but strong backend engineers who want to grow into fullstack work are welcome.
Key Missions
- Design, build, and maintain backend services that power Forma’s platform (services and APIs for:
- account lifecycle
- transactions
- member management)
- Work through React/TypeScript/NestJS services and contribute to the required codebase
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Customer Success, and other engineers to ship features for members and admin users
Requirements
- Event-driven architecture or messaging experience is a strong plus (e.g., Pub/Sub, Kafka, SQS/SNS)
- 2–5 years building backend services and APIs
- Comfort with observability (logging, metrics, alerting); Datadog used
- Curiosity and ownership (starts with the WHY and asks questions)
- Strong TypeScript/NestJS backend proficiency
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (preferred GCP, but AWS/Azure also fine)
- Bonus points for Kubernetes, Terraform, and/or CI/CD pipelines
- Strong experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations)
Nice to Haves
- Frontend experience with React and TypeScript (preferred)
- UI/component development experience (e.g., MUI, Tailwind)
- Fintech, benefits, or HR tech experience—especially financial transactions, compliance, or third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, Plaid)
- Experience in a growth-stage startup balancing speed and quality
