Role: Senior Software Engineer

Join Primer’s Partners team, which reimagines how third-party payment service providers integrate with Primer’s unified payment infrastructure.

Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you’ll work closely with backend, frontend, and mobile engineers and the Product team. The team follows a “you build it, you own it” model, including infrastructure work and hands-on testing/QA.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of core backend services for high-performance distributed systems
• Own key technology decisions, building for scale and optimizing for output
• Apply modern development practices such as BDD and TDD (highly beneficial)
• Write clear, modern, well-tested code
• Collaborate in a product-driven environment and across teams
• Conduct code reviews and improve team ways of working
• Create detailed internal documentation for your work

Requirements / What you’ll bring

• Strong understanding of the full development process (design, development, deployment)
• Knowledge of building developer frameworks and workflows to enable seamless customer/third-party integration
• Python experience is advantageous (but candidates from any technical background who can adapt are considered)
• Self-starter mindset with strong autonomy and delivery
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Interest in payments domain and optimizing the merchant developer experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with BDD/TDD
