Senior Software Engineer (Platform Core)

Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Platform Core) at Pindrop. You will own and evolve high-scale backend and data-layer services that power core products, including IAM, Interaction Service, Data Lake, reporting, and admin services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate distributed backend services and APIs for high-volume customer interactions.
• Own platform work end to end: clarify ambiguous problems, shape technical plans, implement, roll out, and support in production.
• Improve reliability, scalability, latency, and cost across shared platform systems used across the business.
• Partner with Product, SRE, and engineering peers to deliver improvements without destabilizing live traffic.
• Participate in on-call, incident response, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of alerting, runbooks, deployment quality, and capacity planning.
• Raise engineering standards via code reviews, design reviews, documentation, and mentorship.

Requirements

Must-haves

• 5–7+ years building backend services and APIs in production (or equivalent practical depth).
• Hands-on experience with Python and/or Go.
• Distributed systems/concurrency and cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Production ownership including deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call for high-scale services.
• Experience with data/messaging technologies: PostgreSQL or Aurora, Redis, and RabbitMQ, with strong reliability/performance/scale tradeoff reasoning.

Nice-to-haves

• Redshift, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, or IAM.
• Infrastructure as code, especially Terraform.
• Strong observability practices (metrics, logs, traces).
• Experience scaling/migrating databases (read replicas, cluster mode, engine migrations).
