Senior Software Engineer

Role overview

Pipe is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for a remote (North America) position. You will work on cloud-based APIs and databases in a Go, Python, and PostgreSQL stack that power Pipe’s capital products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable backend services (primarily Go and Python)
• Architect, optimize, and maintain relational database tables in PostgreSQL
• Lead technical projects from concept to launch, ensuring quality and reliability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers and engineers to define requirements and implement solutions
• Conduct code reviews and champion engineering best practices

Required qualifications

• 5–7+ years of backend software development experience
• Production experience with Go, Java, Python, or similar
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience building and operating scalable APIs and services
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Working knowledge of GitHub, VSCode, or similar tooling
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and distributed systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field

• Fintech experience (not required)

Compensation & benefits

• US base salary: $150,000–$220,000 (range narrowed during interview)
